2/25/09 - Outage

The reason for this outage was that my ISP suspended my server due to a lot of phishing scams on my server. I agree 100% why they did this, as it protected 1000's of users from handing out there personal information.

I have disabled instant signups until later tonight as I will have to come out will different plans to defray the bad guys from signing up an instant account.

OK I have now enabled new signups, but with some requirements, I do this for many reasons and they are all for the good of the community and to keep my server online. I now require you to post 25 legit posts in the forum before your account is created or a one time only $1.99 setup fee. This keeps the bad guys off the servers.

I know there are some great people I have on here and I get your emails thanking me for the service and I feel so good when I read those emails, but free instant accounts attract the bottom feeders that abuse the service.

To keep the bottom feeders off my server they will have to spend time to post in the forum or give up some identification for the one time fee for the AD free account.

This will increase the uptime of my server because my ISP will not stand for all the abuse complaints. This will not affect the current accounts on the server.

I'm sure there are many of you out there that have received a phishing scam before, some may know what to look out for, but there are those that do not and will provide their personal information.
